"in sickness and in health"

it was yiheng and yomay's wedding yesterday! (:
as usual, church weddings always leave me with much to think about.

there was one particular scene that moved me deeply.

after saying their first Lord's Prayer as a wedded couple, Rev. See stepped aside while yiheng and yomay proceeded to pray together. as the audience, we couldn't hear what they were praying about, but we could see them praying between themselves on the stage. although it was a long wait for us, witnessing such a scene brought tears to my eyes.

sharing a prayer that aligned their marriage to God:
what a beautiful start in this lifelong journey. (:

but what truly struck me is the relationship of joseph and julien. (:

they're my age. they're not married. yet they exemplify the phrase "in sickness and in health" of the wedding vows so well. especially for the past few years when julien's back problem has been getting from bad to worse. ):

as her childhood friend, i'm ashamed to admit that i haven't been there for her all the time. but words can't describe how thankful i am that God has blessed her with joseph, who has stuck with her through thick and thin, in sickness and in health, for better and for worse.

it really hasn't been easy. how many guys would be willing to shoulder such responsibilities with their partners (not even married yet!) at the age of 22? as what tp said, "a lesser man would have left."

i'm so inspired. so touched. so thankful. (:
