God's amazing love

i went for a prayer service this morning, to gather as a church to pray for issues on the individual, church, national & world level.

towards the end, uncle 子华 led us in a hokkien prayer for members of the church who are hospitalised or down with illness. even though i couldn't understand hokkien very well, but as he listed the names of the people in his prayer (most i presume were names of the elderly from the hokkien service), a rush of thanksgiving swept over me.

it dawned upon me how truly blessed we are to be in God's family, such that we can support and pray for one another at ALL times, even in times of sickness and grief. i'm also thankful to be worshipping in a church of our size, that we're able to pray personally for specific brothers and sisters.

isn't that something wonderful? i can almost imagine myself growing old in the future and developing all kinds of weird sickness. yet i know my brothers and sisters in Christ will definitely remember me in their prayers, providing invaluable support through prayer, even on my deathbed when i'm gasping for the last breath of air.

that's the power of fellowship! (:
that's the power of the love of Jesus Christ, as exemplified by His people! (:

"For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

- Romans 8:38-39
